Welcome back to “The Wematch Talent Project,” where we delve into the stories of the incredible individuals shaping the future of Wematch.live. In this episode, we sit down with Ben Cullen, a driving force behind our innovative solutions, to explore his journey, achievements, and aspirations.

Wematch.live: Hi Ben! Let’s kick off with your career journey. How did you get started, and what led you to your current role?

Ben:: I began my career at JP Morgan in an Operations role, navigating through various project and client service positions. Eventually, I managed the TRS MO team within Equity Finance, gaining the foundational product knowledge that set the stage for my transition to Wematch.

Wematch.live: What intrigued you most about joining the team at Wematch.live?

Ben: The opportunity to leverage my background in TRS to address an industry-wide problem in reconciling cash flows excited me. My ultimate goal was to automate the entire end-to-end flow, and Wematch’s strong position in the TRS market made it the ideal platform to achieve this.

Wematch.live: Reflecting on your time at Wematch, what accomplishments are you most proud of?

Ben: Launching the Wematch Cash Flow Module stands out as my biggest and proudest achievement. The task was vast, requiring more than a simple plug-and-play approach. The journey took me from Market Data to Database structures, co-piloting the coding process in Python. It taught me numerous skills and valuable lessons.

Wematch.live: How has working here provided you with opportunities for growth and development?

Ben: I believe the opportunity for learning is what you make of it. In a startup environment like Wematch, being proactive and seeking new opportunities to learn and grow is crucial. There are plenty of greenfield initiatives where knowledge doesn’t currently exist, and you have to take the lead, making decisions based on gathered information.

Wematch.live: What inspires and motivates you on a daily basis?

Ben: Making a meaningful contribution to improving processes and efficiencies across an entire industry is pretty cool! My greatest enjoyment in my career has always been improving processes, increasing automation, and making things work more efficiently.

Ben’s journey from navigating TRS at JP Morgan to spearheading the launch of Wematch’s Cash Flow module showcases his dedication to innovation and process improvement. Stay tuned for more captivating stories from our talented team members in the upcoming articles of “The Wematch Talent Project.”
