The gender imbalance in the FinTech sector is a well-documented challenge. Despite progress in recent years, EY’s Women in FinTech report found that women still make up just 28% of the FinTech workforce. At Wematch.live, we recognise that our company is not immune to this disparity. However, we are committed to being part of the solution and creating a more equitable environment where women can thrive.
Over the past couple of years, we have significantly improved gender diversity across our organisation. As of April 2024, 38% of our employees globally are women, up from 23.3% at the start of 2022. This steady increase reflects our ongoing efforts to attract, retain and promote female talent.
Our commitment to gender diversity extends across all our offices worldwide. Amongst our Israel and UK Teams, we have now achieved near gender parity, with women comprising approximately half of our teams. We are actively working to replicate this balance in our other locations.
We recognise that attracting women to FinTech can be challenging, given the historical gender imbalances in the industry. To address this, we are making extra efforts to reach out to female talent through campaigns showcasing the success stories of women within our company. We believe that by actively seeking out and encouraging female candidates, we can help change the perception of FinTech as a male-dominated field.
“At Wematch, we understand that diversity is not just a moral imperative, but a business one as well,” says Lihi Bitton Benifla, Head of Human Resources. “We are building a Platform that serves a wide range of clients, and to do that effectively, we need a team that reflects the diversity of the world we operate in.”
Of course, achieving gender equality is not just about the numbers. It’s about fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed. We are taking steps to ensure women have equal opportunities for advancement and leadership roles within our company.
“We still have some way to go, but I am encouraged by the progress we have made so far,” says Joseph Seroussi, CEO & Co-founder at Wematch. “By prioritising diversity and inclusion, we not only become a better company but also play a role in driving positive change in our industry.”
Looking ahead, Wematch remains dedicated to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We will continue challenging ourselves to do better, holding leadership accountable for making measurable progress on gender equality. Our journey is far from over, and we are proud of the steps we have taken thus far. We invite others in the FinTech community to join us in working towards a future where women have equal opportunities to shape the industry’s next chapter.
